A Tradition of Leadership & Excellence in Equine Medicine
The Peterson & Smith equine working student program has now been in operation since 2004 with five undergrads completing an internship. We currently have around around twenty-five students completing the program each year.
For this program, we seek students enrolled in general agricultural or equine science programs that want to expand their exposure to the world of equine veterinary medicine. We will concentrate on the areas of: surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, theriogenology, emergency medical/surgical care, sports medicine, general medicine, and herd health.
It is our intent that this opportunity will fulfill the practical experience requirements necessary for each student's area of study, and any personal goals that the students have for the internship.
We will be offering placements in our hospital (surgery/ medicine/ sports medicine), at our equine reproduction center; and in our ambulatory department. The program will run during the spring semester (approximately mid-January through May) and the summer semester (June and July).
