Stoli (First Down Dash x Strawberry Silk), a 1998 stallion owned by Elliott Equine Services, Inc. and JM Farms Equine, LLC, is one of the top stallions in the American Quarter Horse racing industry. Over the span of his racing career, Stoli accumulated 10 wins, one second and three thirds in 19 starts, was designated 2001 3-Year-Old American Quarter Horse Racing Champion and was awarded the Superior Racehorse designation from AQHA, which is bestowed upon a horse that accumulates a total of 300 points in its career.
Stoli is famed not only for his own accomplishments, but for the accomplishments of his offspring. Over his career, Stoli has sired 37 stakes winners, multiple champions, and a World Champion, boasting $16.8 million in sire earnings. Additionally, he is the dam sire of several champions with earnings of $14 million. Stoli is also the only AQHA stallion to be sire and dam sire of horses that won over $2 million. During his career, Stoli has also sired multiple barrel racing horses whose earning total nearly $400,000.
One of Stoli’s most notable offspring is a 2006 gelding aptly named Stoli’s Winner (Stoli x Veva Jean). As a 2-year-old, Stoli’s Winner took top honors as an American Quarter Horse Racing World Champion, and was designated an AQHA Supreme Racehorse in 2009, which recognizes any racing American Quarter Horse that earns $500,000 or more, wins two or more open Grade 1 stakes races and wins at least 10 races during its career. Stoli’s Winner started 29 times, winning 13 races with six second place runs and two third place finishes, and was inducted into the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame at Remington Park in 2012 for his career accomplishments.
Beyond Stoli’s incredible track record both as a racehorse and a racehorse sire, he also boasts stunning conformation and a charming personality. He is clearly adored by all that have the opportunity to meet him, “He is a very structurally correct horse and has a good mind,” says Stoli’s owner, Steve Elliott. “He can be led around with a halter and cotton lead. Stoli is very friendly and always wants to be the center of attention. He also never turns down a treat.”
The 2022 breeding season marks the second year that Stoli has stood at Peterson Smith’s Advanced Fertility Center. “Our experience with Peterson Smith has been great,” adds Steve. “We have used them for years for a variety of services. This is Stoli’s second year at the reproduction center and they have done a great job.”
