Dr. Lisa Edwards grew up riding horses in Davie, Florida, and obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2015. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship at a busy private practice referral hospital in Ocala, Florida, and then moved across the country to California. Dr. Edwards finished a 3 year large animal internal medicine residency at the University of California, Davis in 2019 and stayed on to complete a 2 year fellowship in large animal emergency and critical care in 2021. After working as a staff veterinarian for the Equine Internal Medicine Service at UC Davis, she made her way home to Florida to join the team at Peterson Smith. Dr. Edwards is board certified in both internal medicine (ACVIM) and emergency and critical care (ACVECC). While she enjoys all facets of internal medicine and critical care, Dr. Edwards is particularly interested in neonatal medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Edwards enjoys paddle boarding, hiking and traveling with her husband.
