The internal medicine department offers 24-hour emergency and intensive care services, along with advanced diagnostics and treatments.

The Peterson Smith Equine Hospital + Complete Care internal medicine department is led by Carol Clark, DVM, DACVIM, a specialist in internal medicine for more than 25 years. Our facilities feature state-of-the-art diagnostics including digital radiography, video endoscopy, ultrasound and ECG monitoring, as well as an on-site laboratory.

In addition to general internal medicine services, our practice is supported by Dennis Brooks, DVM, DACVO, a specialist in ophthalmology for more than 35 years. Dr. Dennis Brooks is available for appointments, ophthalmic surgery and hospitalized treatment of intensive eye cases.

The Peterson Smith Equine Hospital + Complete Care facility features dedicated medicine and isolation barns to allow for the hospitalization of patients with various needs. The barns include a number of climate-controlled stalls and a sling stall for neurologic or recumbent horses. The care of our patients is supported 24/7 by a veterinary team with additional staff added during foaling season when there is a higher volume of hospitalized and critical patients.
